The fashion making :

You have an interest in fashion !

see the section on the table of contents

The principale of this method is a pattern that you draw yourself.

The basic pattern is the blouse (standard model), which you can transform,

to make the design you want.

Our technical cutting and sewing book shows you these transformations with dart manipulations,

and how to convert and shift a dart, which will enable you to create blouses, shirts, skirts, dresses,

jackets and coats.

You can create your own fashion and designs .

This method also shows you how to make a straight skirt, trousers, kimonos, etc.,

See the table of contents where part of the book is dedicated to children.

How to make a definitive pattern with basic bodice for blouse?

1) look carefully at the selected model :

Look at where the bust dart will be (on the shoulder, below the arm, on the waist,

on the bias, on the armhole, on the neckline).

Without the dart, look at where the dart would be. We can have the patch on the piece

cut out, which takes the place of it.

Example :

Patch straight or fantasy

shoulder strap, shoulder dart, cut out strap,

rounded cut : armhole dart (on the cap sleeve)

Deporter cut : Dart on bias, etc...

Comment : To find the sizes in comparison to the shoulders, the bust,

the waist, the hips, etc...

II) In all cases (also for clothes cut at the waist)

- Hold up the back and front of the basic bodice for the blouse, with the basic dart you chose.

- To shorten, or to stretch out accordingly at the front and the back from the hip line

and parallel to the middle.

- Open out the seams side if necessary (the same mesasurement on the front and on the back).

- See fold over and facing (for buttoned garment).

Comment :

We use the basic bodice pattern without let out for :

blouses, dresses near the body, waistcoats, tunics, etc...

We let out it for :

- housecoats, pinafores dresses, (on pullovers or blouses)

- shirts jackets

- dressing gowns

- coats and right jackets

- suits.
